Are you infatuated with someone, but can’t figure them out?

Do you find yourself wondering:

• What their behaviour means?
• Why they have so much power over your emotions?

If so, it’s likely that you are experiencing the altered mental state of limerence, which is well described as addiction to another person.

Although limerence is happening inside your head, there are some important external factors that make it worse. It’s often hard to know how much hope is being fed by an overactive imagination, and how much by their actions—especially when a simple smile or frown can be enough to send your emotions spiralling.
